Guided by the principle of “taking only what is essential,” the design preserves the owner’s existing building and workshop, removing only minor sheds and adding new structures that follow the original framework and materials. A site-wide grid derived from local construction and weaving techniques shapes the layout through principles of linearity, circadian rhythm, and intersection. These guide the organization of guest residences, the owner’s working areas, and shared weaving and storage spaces. Horizontal connections support fluid movement, while vertical height changes define degrees of privacy, reweaving old and new architecture, social activity, and natural processes into an integrated whole.
